You don’t get to be a spy of the AVL, King of Louisiana and chancellor of the vampire Authority at 175 years old by being an idiot, quite the contrary.
I understand his frustration all the vampires who use their age as though it means something are fucking idiots!!!! They practically have a sign on their forehead saying “kill me because I am obvious” Bill on the other hand, was a double agent, became king, made sure his entire bloody kingdom was saved from a madwoman’s revenge and his plan to destroy the True Blood factories would slowly cause the destruction of vampires rather than just outright assassination that would cause the extinction of the vampires. I call Bill Compton probably the most brilliant vampire in the show who does get a top 10 spot for best vampires.
Starting a Civil war, warmongering and worshipping mad and godless god is quite idiotic. Those TB factories will not just be rebuilt so their destruction was a big deal. Certainly if the whole vampire race is now proclaimed an enemy that needs to be exterminated. TB factories were only possible because there was an arrangement between the human and vampire government; without collaboration like that the vampires cannot hope to rebuild these factories.
It is precisely the destruction of TB factories which was televised that created panic among humans who are now looking to their government to take a military action against all the vampires. What Bill did was forcing his entire race to either face starvation or start feeding on humans. And in any case to be a target for extinction. Don’t be surprised to see vampires imprisoned, experimented on and/or killed for no reason but just because they are vampires. If Bill was so clever, brilliant and selfless, he would use his brilliance and his dedication to coexist to actually support mainstreaming even if it meant his demise, not order terrorist action that would enrage the humans and precipitate the war as well as pursue his goal to destroy other chancellors to be able to keep the vial of Lilith’s blood for himself and seek union with Lilith.The older vampires have been killed off for various reasons but you could hardly say they were stupid. The age does mean something at least in terms of strength and experience. Bill’s young age is certainly balanced by his enormous appetite for power and exploiting any means necessary to gain it.
